Mrs. Woodruff Dies at Age 82
Pine Mountain, Ga-----Mrs. Rossie Stephens Woodruff, 82, prominent citizen of 
Pine Mountain, Ga and former resident of both Stewart and Webster Counties, 
died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 4,in the City-County Hospital in LaGrange, 
after several weeks illness.
Mrs. Woodruff was born September 3, 1888 in Stewart County daughter of the 
late Henry and Caroline Brinson Stephens.  Her husband was the late C. E. 
Woodruff.  The couple lived at Weston for a number of years, moving from there 
to Harris County in 1930 and to Pine Mountain in 1948.
She was an accomplished musician, and was pianist for twenty-five years at the 
Pine Mountain Baptist Church where she was a devout member.  She was one of 
the community's most highly esteemed citizens and was endeared to many friends 
where she was known. 
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Pine Mountain at 2 
p.m. Thursday, August 5, with the Rev. H. L. Hardy, pastor, assisted by the 
Rev. M. D. Woodruff, conducting the rites.  Burial was in the Union Baptist 
Church Cemetery at Morris, Ga.
Pallbearers were O. E. White, Ken Askew, John Willingham, Errol Myhand, 
William Jenkins, Jesse Newton Champion, Sim King, and Leroy Dismuke.
Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Marguerite Woodruff of Mercer University, 
Macon, and a son Horace Woodruff of Dallas, Texas, a grandson Rev. Marshall 
Dean Woodruff of Houston, Texas, and two great grandchildren, Mrs. Georgena 
Woodruff of Cuthbert is a niece.
