Stewart County }   This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of January 
eighteen hundred and thirty eight. Betwenn Samuel Brooks administrator 
for the estate of WILLIAM late of said county Deceased of the one part 
and JOHN GRIMES of the county and state aforesaid of the other part 
witnesseth than whereas the afsd SAMUEL BROOKS on this the third day of 
July last received letters of administration from the Infereor Court of 
the county afsd while sitting for Ordinary purposes on all the estate 
real and personal of the afsd WILLIAM GRIMES, Decd and after notifying 
the heirs & creditors of said Estate lawfully obtained  an order from 
the said court to sell Lott of Land Number one hundred & twenty eight 
lying in the nineteenth District (Originally Lee) now Stewart County(
Subject to the Widows Dower) it being the real Estate of the afsd 
WILLIAM GRIMES Decd. After having advertised the same in the Columbus 
Cenunal Off _erensaid lott (or the part thereof which belonged to the 
afsd WILLIAM GRIMESat his Deceased) at public sale before the court 
house door in the town of Lumpkin County Afsd on the Second day of 
the present Instant and the highest and best bid was eight hundred 
and fifteen dollars by the afsd JOHN GRIMES who then became the 
purchance Now know ye that for and in consideration of the afsd sum 
of Eight hundred and fifteen dollars to him the afsd SAMUEL BROOKS 
Admr. Afsd in hand paid by the afsd JOHN GRIMES the reciept is here by 
acknowedged and as adm. Afsd hath sold  granted Conveted & Confirmed 
and do by these presents sell grant Convey & Confirm unto the afsd 
JOHN GRIMES his heirs and assigns all that had or Lott of Land or the 
part of the same which the afsd WILLIAM GRIMES Decd was ___ and possesed 
at his death supposed to contain One hundred and seventy seven Acres
( Subject to the windows Dower  adjoining Lands of THOMAS GRIMES on the 
East JOHN THORNTON land north & west & C. BROOKS land on the South to 
have and to hold said tract or parcel of Land unto him the afsd JOHN GRIMES 
his heirs & assigns together with all and Singular the rights members and 
apperlananes there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining (Subject to 
the Widows dower) to his and their proper use benefit &____forever in fee 
simple and the said SAMUEL BROOKS as adms afsd for himself his heirs & 
the said bargained ____ unto the said JOHN GRIMES  his heirs and assigns
____ & forever so far forth do the duty of an administrator defend the right 
and titles there of against them selors and against the Claim of all others 
persons whatever . Witness where of the said SAMUEL BROOKS adminstrator afsd 
hath hereunto Set my hand and seal this day and year above written Signed Seal 
and Delivered in presence of
