Hardwick my negro boy Henry and desire that said negro vest in her in her right in her own use and benefit independent of any debts or contracts of her said husband and free from his disposal either of gift sale or otherwise Item the 5th I give and bequeath my Negro girl – Harriett to my beloved Nephew John William Hardwick the infant & only son of my brother in law and sister Charles W & Marsha Hardwick Item the 5th I desire all my just debts paid by my Executor out of the property hereinafter mentioned and in the manner hereinafter mentioned if practicable. I desire my Executor to sell my interest in the Stock of Drugs which shall be on hand at my death in the drugstore of Thornton & Williams either at public or private sale as he in his judgment may think best and also to have the notes and accounts of all notes of the late firm of Hardwick Thornton and Williams and the accounts and notes of the firm of Thornton & Williams all collected and the amount due me ascertained. I also desire my said Executor to sell my horse & buggy also to ascertain and collect whatsoever interest is now due me or may hereafter be due me out of the Estate of my late father John Thornton deceased also to sell all my property if any ____ before or hereafter disposed of and all of the money arising from the Sales and Collections of the several matters mentioned in the 5th term to go and be applied to the payment of my just debts. Item 6th I give and bequeath to my beloved sister Marsha Hardwick wife of Charles W Hardwick to her own use and to her own free disposal my gold watch Item 7th In the event there is not money arising from the Sales & Collections as specified in item the 5th sufficient to pay off my just debts then it is my will and desire that the _______ made by me a lot proportionally on accounting their value for the purposes of paying off my just debts. Item the 8th I appoint my brother in law Charles W Hardwick my sole executor for the purpose of carrying into effect this my last will & testament.
