Probably it originally the grave site of Wm. Henry FEAGIN and/or Michael James FEAGIN, who were highly likely the sons of James and Mary Ann COTTINGHAM FEAGIN, formerly of Jones County, both born in the Marlborough County area of SC. Nancy FEAGIN HAMMOCK, wife of Lewis M. HAMMOCK, is recognized as their daughter in at least one source, and is buried here. The only fully recognized child of James and Mary Ann was Tristeram Edward FEAGIN, who moved to PineApple, AL. It is also probably the burial spot for Janie DRENNAN FEAGIN, second wife of William FEAGIN. Jane DRENNAN was the daughter of William DRENNAN of Talbot County. Michael J.'s wife, Eliza, maiden name unknown, may be buried there as well. William Henry FEAGIN died sometime between 1864 and 1866. His will was filed in March 1864 but never probated. Gilbert Clark CAMERON was the son of Thomas and Ann CLARK CAMERON, found in the 1840 Upson County, GA census. Ann CLARK was the daughter of Gilbert CLARK, and a descendent of the Gilbert CLARK who established the Barbecue Presbyterian Church on the border of Moore/Harnett County, NC, in the 1750's. (Moore's county seat, Carthage, was originally FEAGINSVILLE). He married Martha A. FEAGIN, daughter of William H. FEAGIN and first wife, Aletha R. MILLEN (who, for some reason, is buried in the Westbrook Cemetery), Oct 18, 1855. Gilbert CAMERON and Michael J. FEAGIN were neighbors in Macon County in the 1860 census. Apparently Gilbert moved to neighboring Sumter County shortly after because there are purchasing contracts where Wm. FEAGIN bought land in downtown Americus for a cabinet shop for his son-in-law, Gilbert. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
