Lamar would apply for Letters of Administration on the estate of Thomas C. Lamar, late of said County deceased, and no objections have been filed or made known. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the said Mary E. Lamar be, and she is hereby appointed Administratrix on the estate of the said Thomas C. Lamer, deceased, she having given bond in the sum of Thirty thousand dollars with John Lamar, Wm. L. Johnson and Andrew J. Williams, securities, and has taken the oath prescribed by law, and Letters of Administration will issue to her accordingly And it is further ordered that (blank) be and they are hereby appointed appraisers to appraise the estate of the said deceased and that a warrant of appraisement will issue to them accordingly for that purpose. Whereas M. R. Stansell attorney of Mary E. Lamar Administratrix on the estate of Thos. C. Lamar, last of said county dec’d applies for the appointment of Commissioners to appraise assess and set apart out of the estate of the said deceased an amount necessary for the support and maintenance of the said Mary E. Lamar and her four minor children (Widow and minors of said deceased), for the space or term of twelve months next succeeding the death of said deceased. Also a sufficient amount of household furniture for the use of the widow and her four minor children aforesaid. It is therefore ordered by the Court that J. J. Grandberry, Stephen Daniel ( Daniels ? ) Wm. W. Ford Adam A. Robinson and T. M. Furlow be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to appraise assess and set apart said support and maintenance of the aforesaid Widow and children for the space or term of twelve months and a sufficient amount of the household furniture for the use of said Widow and children out of (bottom of page cut off) (next page) The following was omitted in the minutes of the May adjourned term of the Ordinary Court for 1863 Georgia, Sumter County} Court of Ordinary In Chambers May adjourned term 1863 State of Georgia } Sumter County } To the Honorable the Court of Ordinary of said County The petition of Mary E. Lamar a citizen of the Confederate states of America and residing in Sumter County in the said state being of lawful age Respectfully ( ?? ), that Thomas C. Lamar late of said County departed this life interstate on or about the third day of March 1863, and was at the time of his death possessed of a considerable estate of the probable value of Fifteen thousand dollars consisting mainly of Land, Negroes, stock in his farm and evidences of debt. Your Petitioner therefore prays your Honor to pass and order granting the administration of the said estate to your Petitioner, she being the widow of said interstate and as in duty bound your Petitioner will ever pray. Additional Comments: Dr. Thomas Cato Lamar, MD died March 3, 1863 in Americus, Sumter Co., Georgia. He married Mary Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Lovett B. & Mary (?______) Smith, on September 9, 1845 in Marion Co., Georgia. He is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, Sumter Co., Georgia After his death, Mary married Lewis Feuilleteau Wilson Andrews on January 27, 1867 in Americus, Sumter Co., Georgia.
