State Items Condensed

Americus – Guilty of murder in the first degree, with a recommendation for mercy
from the court, was the verdict of the jury in the famous Dr. C.K. Chapman
murder case, which was tried for the third time in the superior court here.  The
verdict virtually means a life imprisonment sentence for the dentist, who was
accused of having killed Walter Wade on the night of August 17, 1916.
