The Americus Times-Recorder gives some queer freaks of the lightning in the following: Remarkable to relate, a young man sat with his head resting upon Mr. Dodson’s shoulder. He escaped unhurt, except from the shock. Mrs. James, a lady member of the congregation, had the shoes wrenched from her feet, and also escaped unhurt. The shoes were not torn by the bolt nor were the strings unlaced. Mrs. James afterward attempted to put the shoes on without unlacing them but found it impossible. Mr. Cobb, who sat by a window on the side of the building, had his shirt bosom burned, and he also escaped injury. A little babe was wrenched from the arms of its mother and hurled ten feet away, but the dear little tot was not hurt in the least.
