Gosa, 89, passed away late Wednesday evening, May 17, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday, May 20, at First Baptist Church of Americus with the Rev. Bob Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow in Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, GA. Born October 22, 1916 in Smithville, Mr. Gosa was the son of the late William L. Gosa and Nettie Ivey Gosa. His wife, Louise Young Gosa, preceded him in death on May 17, 2005, exactly one year prior to his death. Mr. Gosa served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after teaching for 30 years at South Georgia Technical and Vocational School, and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Americus as long as his health permitted. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Gosa of Americus, and one grandson, Shane Gosa of Americus. Hancock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6-8pm Friday, May 19. At other times, friends may call at Mr. Gosa's residence, 1326 S.
