Col. Willis Hawkins Dead

It has been known for some time that Judge Willis A. Hawkins lay at death’s 
door, but we all hoped that by some means he would be spared to us, and while 
we feared the worst we hoped for the best.  For several months he had been 
confined to his house, and his familiar face was missed from our streets and 
from our courts, where we were so accustomed to see him. Prepared as we were 
for the worst, it was with a shock that our people heard of his death, which 
occurred at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon. – Americus Recorder
