W. Layfield Funeral services were conducted Saturday, 3:30 p.m. at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church, Sumter City, Ga., for Mr. George Wilburn Layfield, 43 years of age, who died only 24 hours after being stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage while engaged at work. He was a farmer residing on his Schley county farm located near the line of Taylor, in both of which counties he was well and favorably known by a wide circle of friends. Last sad rites were performed by Eld. B. F. House of Phenix City, Ala., and Elder M. A. Hall of Arab, Ga. Besides being a regular church attendant Mr. Layfield was a prominent member of the order of Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Layfield was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Willis Layfield of Schley County. He served with the U. S. Army in the European Theater for three years during World War II. On Sept. 15, 1954 Mr. Layfield Miss Nadine Wiggins of Sumter county who survives him as does also his parents, one son, Tarran Layfield a sister, Mrs. H. R. King, Jr. of Albany; and a brother, Mr. Tom Layfield of Schley county.
