Nadine Layfield

Smithville, Ga. – Nadine Layfield, 72, of Smithville, died Wednesday at 
Sumter Regional Hospital, Americus.

The funeral and burial will be 5 p.m. today at Liberty Primitive Baptist 
Church in Sumter City, near Smithville, according to Hancock Funeral Home, 
Americus.

Mrs. Layfield was born April 16, 1914, in Sumter County, daughter of Mr. and 
Mrs. John T. Wiggins. She was a retired licensed practical nurse who had 
worked at Magnolia Manor in Americus. She was the widow of George Wilburn 
Layfield and was a member of Liberty Primitive Baptist church.

Survivors include a son, Tarron D. Layfield, of Americus; three brothers, 
Durell Wiggins, Leo Wiggins, both of Smithville, and Leon Wiggins, of 
Brunswick, Ga.; two grandsons, nieces and nephews.
