R. Methvin Passes in his 82nd Year. Mr. W. R. Methvin died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. E. Hicks, Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6:00 o'clock. He was an old confederate soldier, having served in Company I, 6th Georgia Regiment, Colquitt's brigade, Hill's division, Longstreet's Corps. Mr. Methvin was 82 years of age, having been born May 7th, 1843, in Twiggs county. He came to live with his daughter here eight years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Hicks, and Miss Marie Methvin and one son, Dr. S. R. Methvin. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. W. A. Huckabee conducting the service. The pallbearers were Mr. J. M. Denby, Mr. E. Casey, Mr. J. O. Holamon, Mr. J. W. Warren and Mr. L. H. Conoly. Additional Comments: Wounded at Seven Pines, Virginia in May 1862 which resulted in amputation of part of an arm. Married Henrietta Caroline Hodges on 8 Dec 1863 in Andersonville, Sumter Co., GA. Buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Sylvester, Worth Co., GA.
