Mr. W.H. Matthews, of Sumter County, died Sunday from the effects of an 
overdose of laudanum.  Some say it was with suicidal intent while others say it 
was purely accidental.  Mr. Matthews was sheriff of Webster County when Susan 
Eberhart was hung.
