TOM MERRITT Americus, Ga., May 23--(Special)--Mr. Tom Meritt, a prominent citizen of Americus, went out to his plantation to look after some farm work yesterday. He was found in the field this morning in an insensible condition, having been stricken with paralysis. Mr. Merritt was carried to the nearest house, and medical attention was given as promptly as possible, but he never rallied and died this afternoon. His death was a great shock to his family and friends. Mr. Merritt has long been a worthy citizen of Sumter county. He has a number of relatives in Marion county and leaves an intelligent and interesting family to mourn his loss. His daughter, who is attending Wesleyan college in Macon, was telegraphed for tonight. The burial will take place tomorrow.
