Worsham, one of the most popular citizens of Americus, was shot down and murdered by Drs. J.B and A.B. Hinkle, of Americus Wednesday night. Intense excitement was created by the affair, and it was feared, for a while, the Hinkle’s would be lynched. The murder was the outcome of Dr. Worsham’s being a witness before the courts in a lawsuit that the elder Hinkle had with Dr Burt, the dentist, over an account. It was a most deplorable affair and Americus is much agitated over it. The coroner’s jury returned a verdict of murder against the Hinkle’s who are confined in Sumter County jail to await trial.
