A coldblooded murder occurred in Sumter County Saturday, in which John Methvin 
killed James Carey.  Methvin shot Carey in the back of the head and the 
murdered man did not even know who killed him.  Deputy Sheriff McAuthur had 
Methvin in custody, but he was rescued by relatives and friends at the point of 
pistols and knives.  Methvin was recaptured, together with several of the men 
who aided his escape.
