J.E. Sheppard and family, of Americus, sincerely sympathize with them in the death of their son, William Thomas Sheppard, which occurred recently at their home. His death was due to tetanus. About two weeks ago the young man stepped upon a rusty nail which penetrated an inch or more into his foot. The injury apparently healed, however, and no serious results were anticipated until Wednesday night when lockjaw manifested its presence death following in a short time. Col. Sheppard, who was recently elected mayor of Americus lived in Butler during his boyhood days and has scores of warm friends here, who regret very much the sadness that has recently come to his home.
