Funeral services for Mr. Simpson of 218 South Hampton Street, Americus, GA, 
who died July 29, 1992 in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, GA will 
be held Tuesday, August 04, 1992 from the Greater Cedar Spring Baptist Church 
at 1:00 p.m., reverend Bobby Robinson officiating.  Burial in the Jerusalem 
Cemetery in Smithville, GA.  The family will receive friends at the home of Ms 
Josephine Simpson, 809 Georgia Avenue, Americus, GA.  He was born May 17, 1929 
in Sumter County, GA to the parentage of the late Ed “Bo” and Josephine “Sis” 
Simpson.  He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, GA.  He 
joined the Greater Cedar Spring Baptist Church at an early age.  He was a 
member of the Christian Benevolence Lodge No. 3 and the Northside Men’s Club.  
He retired from the Redman Mobile Home Plant in Richland, GA, having worked 
there 25 years.  Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Ozie B. Simpson; 
2 daughters, Josephine Simpson and Esther Simpson; his son, Oscar Simpson, 
Jr., all of Americus, GA; his brother Ernest Simpson of Delray Beach, Fl, 
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Daisy B. Haynes, Mrs. Sylvia Hicks, Mrs. Ollie M. 
Simpson, Mrs. Lorece Chambliss, all of Americus, GA; Mrs. Lucille Simpson of 
Delray Beach, FL, Mrs. Mozell Simpson and Mrs. Blanche Simpson of 
Jacksonville, FL; 3 brothers-in-law, Charlie Chambliss of East Orange, NJ, Mr. 
Willie C. (Dillard) Chambliss and Mr. Ernest Hicks of Americus, GA; nieces, 
Mrs. Josie M. Simpson of Americus, GA, Mrs. Annie “Sue” Douglas of Atlanta, GA 
and Mrs. Mary Frances Hudson of Los Angeles, CA; nephews, James M. Simpson Jr. 
of Americus, GA, Curtis Simpson of Los Angeles, CA and Alex Bernard Gant of 
Richmond, VA; Grandsons Kip, Christopher, Brandon and Quinton Simpson of 
Americus, GA and Kelvin L. Simpson, US Navy; 2 granddaughters.
