Williams, perhaps the oldest resident of Sumter County, and certainly one of the most venerable citizens of Americus, died at his residence, after an illness of seven weeks. Death was due to typhoid fever. The deceased was 81 years of age and had lived during the past 17 years in Americus. Prior to that time he was a resident of Weaver’s Crossing neighborhood, in the Andersonville community where he was raised.
