It's a slab-style and the only writing on it is a DAR marker, placed there in 1938. This grave is located directly next to the grave of Columbus Washington Hand (the white upright tombstone visible behind the slab. Additional Comments: DAR records for Henry Harrison Hand state that he was born February 23, 1791 and died March 10, 1870. Thus, there is a question about why the DAR placed a marker here. Rev. Henry Hand, father of Henry Harrison Hand, appears to have served in the Revolutionary War as a private soldier of the line in North Carolina. (NSDAR #456378 Elizabeth Hand Hale application which cites McCalls' Roster of Rev. Soldiers in Georgia pg 82-83, Vol. III, and Authentic List of All Land Lottery Grants made to Veterans of the Revolutionary War by the State of Georgia complied by Alex M. Hertz. Atlanta 1955, p. 33.) Records for the War of 1812 show a Henry H. Hand served as a private and sergeant with Bowling's Detachment, Georgia Militia.
