Will of James Parker 19 Oct 1835 Sumter County, GA Contributed By Lygia Dawkins Cutts 6 OCT 1998 Georgia, Sumter County In the name of God, Amen. I James Parker of the state and county aforesaid being sick & weak of body but of sound mind and memory and understanding and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof to the end that I may be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please my God to call me hence have now determined to direct what disposition shall be made of my property after my decease and after maturely considering circumstances and condition of all those among whom as my heirs at law or the objects of my gratitude or affection in my judgement my estate be distributed. I do make publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making null and void all former last wills and testaments by me heretofore made and my will is First that after my deceased body shall be decently buried without ostentation or unavoidable expenses and that my funeral charges and just debts shall be paid by my executor herein named and as the residue of my estate and pro- perty with which God has blessed me and which shall not be required for the payment of my debts and funeral charges and the expenses in and about the execution of this my will and the administration of my estate I give devise to my beloved wife Rebecca Parker all my household furniture a small stock of cattle a small stock of hogs one sorrel mare one yoke of oxen one cart together with all my plantation and farming untensils one lot of land con- taining two hundred two and a half acres more or less situate lying and being in the Twenty sixth district of originally Lee now Sumter County known in the plan of said district by lot number Two hundred and eighteen together with all present crop of corn cotton ect. all the above which I have given to my beloved wife Rebecca Parker shall be hers during her natural life and if she marries my property shall then be distributed among my heirs with the exception of my son Lemuel Parker who for his portion of my estate shall receive the sum of one dollar if my beloved wife should continue a widow until her death then my estate shall be distrubuted as above named. And I do nominate and appoint my friend Isaac McCary to be the executor of this my last will and testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal this the nineteenth day of October eighteen hundred and thirty five signed sealed and declared by the said James Parker to his last will and testament in presence of Sidney M.
