I Edward Hawkins of said state and county being of Advanced age an knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it right and proper both as respects my family and myself that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has helped me do therefore make this my Last will and Testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. Item 1st I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and christian like manner suitable like manner to my circumstances and conditions in life. 2nd Item I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by My Executrix hereinafter apointed (sic) as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed in there (sic) rights especially as there is no necessity for delay. 3rd Item I give bequeath and devise to my beloved wife Sarah the plantation I now live upon Three hundred acres more or less in the 28th Twenty Eighth District of Sumter County with all the rights members and appertainances (sic) to said plantation in any wise belonging to her own proper use benefit and behoof forever with full power to dispose of the same at any time previous or by will or deed at her death as she may think proper. I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife in the same unreserved manner the farming utensils used on and belonging to said plantation of every discription whatever and one Buggy & harness and stock af all kinds, All my household and Kitchen Furniture belonging to and used on said plantation. 4th Item I give bequeath and devise to my three children George C. Hawkins, Eleck I Hawkins, Comer Hawkins each of the above named children Five Dollars each 5th Item I give and bequeath to my son William's children Five Dollars 6th Item I give and bequeath to my son James Five Dollars 7th Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Five Dollars 8th Item I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Five Dollars 9th Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Five Dollars 10th Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah Five Dollars 11th Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Caroline Five Dollars (Page 207) 12th Item I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Sarah Exectrix of this My Last Will and Testament. his Edward x Hawkins LS (legal seal) mark Signed sealed delivered and published by Edward Hawkins as his last will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers who subscribed our names hereto in the presence of said Testator at his special instance and request and of each other.
