Bradford Willis William Holt was an early planter of Talbot County. A native of Virginia, he was born April 14, 1792 and died September 18, 1874. He married Frances Cox of Putnam County. A native of Georgia, she was born September 9, 1802 and died October 18, 1863. They were the parents of at least twelve children: Dr. Peyton Robert Holt, David Singleton Holt, Dr. William H. Holt, Willis Cox Holt, Carey Cox Holt, Micajah Holt, Martha A. Holt, Louisiana “Lou” Holt, Mary H. Holt, Anna Elizabeth Holt, Frances N. Holt, and Harriet Holt. The Holt family home in Talbot County was built in the Greek Revival style, and a family cemetery, surrounded by a stone wall, was located not far from the house. In August 2013, the writer read about the William Holt family, the home, and the family cemetery in A Rockaway in Talbot, Vol. I, by William H. Davidson. He saw an old photograph of the cemetery and wondered if the small cemetery was still around. He listed the cemetery on Findagrave.com and requested photographs of the grave markers for William and Frances C. Holt. On September 26, 2013, Mr. Henry W. Pollard of Upson County, a member of Find- A-Grave, took photographs of the small cemetery with its two grave markers. Mr. Mike Buckner and Mr. Danny Hendricks of Talbot County helped him locate this historic Talbot County cemetery. The photographs included in this article were taken by Mr. Pollard. Appreciation is expressed to Mr. William H. Davidson, Mr. Mike Buckner, Mr. Danny Hendricks, and Mr. Henry W. Pollard for preserving this slice of Talbot County history.
