Sidney & Dawn Smith have information on the move to Taylor County about 1887 "It was originally located in land lot 47 of the 24th land district and an old cemetary with many unmarked graves remain.". Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church has not moved after the move about 1887 or 1886. The county line was moved from behind the church to the front of the church using County Road as the new line. The old fence behind Shiloh Church still follows the old line. John R. Adams ================= It was attended by some of my (Sidney Smith) ancestors, Benjamin Smith, John Dean, and a lot of the Childs family, all of whom got land in Talbot through the land lottery. I have some info that I must dig up on the moving of the church. How many mules, etc. It (shiloh) was moved to Taylor county and set back up. There was mention of the county lines changeing later and that it moved back to Talbot without any mules. I am not sure which county it is in today. I dont know if Horeb was there when Shiloh was moved to its new location. Shiloh left behind a smallcemetary at its original location with a few marked graves. It is about amile from my house. I will go there and check it out again. This original cemetary has no connection to the Horeb church but should be full of people who got land in the timeframe of the original land lottery (1829 up until the move). In the info on Shiloh, it mentions in the original deed that it is located near "Deans Mill." The creek behind the old site is Deans mill Creek on the present day maps and I located the site of Deans Mill. I have seen no one requesting info or even coming up with this mill. Deans mill ran until about 1910 and was then owned by the Matthews family. A tremendous amout of rock work was done by hand on the creek to divert the water to what was a huge mill. A series of lakes was also constructed up stream to hold water for hard times. s smith
