STORY FROM Bobbie Bryan Coons Here is an interesting story concerning that tornado on March 21, 1875: This is about my great grandfather, Robert Sylvanus Bryan (a school teacher) son of David W. Bryan, of Talbot County. Before leaving Georgia to come to Texas, a cyclone hit their home in Redbone, Georgia on March 21, 1875 (I believe it was a Sunday afternoon), injuring several members of the family. One negro servant died from his injuries. A neice, Mattie Stinson Bryan, daughter of John Hardy Bryan, was visiting in the home when the storm struck. The floor opened up and she fell through and then the floor closed back up. No one knew she was under there for some time due to all the noise and confusion. She had very long hair and finally they noticed her hair which was all that was showing above the floor and rescued her. She was injured about her shoulders and always had some deformity as a result of the injury. It was always said that their family Bible was blown away in the storm; howver, that is not correct because I have the Bible. It definitely is not in very good condition so it probably did sustain a bit of damage. Bobbie Bryan Coons
