Alton Reedy Dear Grandson, I seat myself down to rite you a few lines to let you know that I am well at this time and I hope these lines will find you engaging the same blessing. Alton I have waited 12 months to get a letter from you but has got none. I did not know whare to direct my letter but if you get this letter I hope you will rite soon. I have nothing if intrist to rite. Times is very hard in the way of provisions. Crops of corn was lite hear last year there was not much cotton planted to have corn. Alton your Unkle John Reedy lives in Columbus, Georgia. He has one child. A daughter and she is married. She is all the child he has got living. Alton if you fail to get a letter from in due time rite to John Carlisle and he will answer it. When you rite to me direct your letter to Waverlyhall, Harris County, Georgia.
