John McDaniel of Talbot Co was a Justice of the Peace, as noted in several of the deed books. He continued in the capacity in St. Clair Co Ala after the family removed to Alabama. Question? Do you know if there is a record of who were appointed[?] elected to fill the positions of Justice of the Peace in Talbot Co during the period 1828-1848? The father of Mr. McDaniel was born 1789, and was a soldier of the war of 1812, and also of the Florida Indian Wars, and was a prominent figure in his county, being a magistrate for forty years and a democrat. He was a Union man in his sentiments and always opposed secession. The family consisted of seven children, of whom two are living. ez4me2@internetpro.net Peter Gold
