Lytle of the North Carolina Line for two years. Inscribed on the rolls for two years. Entered the Service of the Colonies in 1779 under the command of Captain Stephen Your, in Gates County, North Carolina. Marched to Georgetown, South Carolina...then to Charlestown. Volunteered for six more months service and on the expiration of that, again volunteered in Captain Johnson's Company. Service was to expire on June 24th, 1780. On May 12, 1780 was taken prisoner of war and put on board a British Prison of War, thirty-two Gun Brigate. Was taken to the Isle of Bermuda. Was again put on a large Prison Ship until 1781 . Was then put on a British Flag Ship and landed on Chesapeake Bay and set at liberty at Hamptons. He states he was a prisoner of War from the early part of 1779 until 1801 or 1802 .
