McCoy and Company The Talbotton New Era Tuesday, February 18, 1890 Valentine Party On Friday evening, the 14th inst., the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Sewell was the scene of a most enjoyable entertainment in the way of a Valentine party, given in honor of four visiting some time with the Misses Willis. There were present the beauty and gallantry of the surrounding county. The host and hostess vied with each other in making everyone have a pleasant time. At 10 o’clock the reading of the Valentines commenced, and one hour was spent in listening to them. Nearly everyone received a valentine. Mr. H.W. and S.M. being the recipients of four or five each, were unanimously voted the most popular young men at the party. After the conclusion of the reading of the valentines, one of the visiting young ladies rendered some sweet music on the piano, Mr. H.T. McD. singing bass. Everyone returned home thanking Mr. and Mrs. Sewell for their kindness and wishing that Feb’y 14th would come oftener that once a year.
