Misses Mattie Miller and Edna McDaniel, of Paschal, visited friends here last week. Mrs. J.W. Nixon, of Manchester, was the guest of her sister, Mrs. J.M. Layfield last Monday. Rev. Walter Gill, of Charing, has accepted a position with the Junction City Manufacturing Co., and has moved his family here. Mrs. W.T. Watson of LaGrange visited Mrs. W.W. Hayes last week. Mrs. DeLoache, of Talbotton, was the pleasant guest of Mrs. Keller last week. Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Montgomery visited relatives at Norwich last Sunday. Miss Fannie Hutchenson was the pleasant guest of Miss Maud Layfield last week. Mr. L.C. Nixon was the guest of Miss Mattie G. Lucas Sunday p.m. The entertainment at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C.C. Carson was largely attended and very much enjoyed by all. Mr. J.M. Layfield was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Jinks, near Tangent, last week. The Butler Herald March 3, 1914 Junction City Items Rev. McLaughlin preached an interesting sermon to a large congregation last Sunday night at the Baptist church. Miss Beulah Martin spent the week-end with Miss Willie Barfield near Talbotton. Misses Ida and Bessie Childs spent Friday at Woodland. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hill of Mauk visited relatives here this week. Miss Maude Layfield is spending this week with her sister Mrs. Jinks. Messrs. Chester Hill and Horace Watson and Misses Maude Brewer and Susie Hammonds motored up to Talbotton Thursday. Messrs. Henry and Joe Harmon and Carl Rigsby, of Rupert, visited Junction City Sunday, there must be some attraction. Guess which one stayed over for the night train and failed to flag it and had to count the crossties. Come again old boy but catch the first passenger train running south. Miss Maude Brewer, of near Butler, is visiting relatives here. The Drake Pournelle Comedy Company presented an interesting programme at the school house Friday and Saturday evenings. Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Brewer spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Harris at Norwich. Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Hammonds and little son Brown, were the guests of the former’s parents Sunday. Messrs. Horace Lumpkin and Claude Blakely attended a party Friday night. Miss Beunola Gill was the guest of relatives and friends at Charing last week.
