Ryn, of Minnesota, was here Thursday inspecting a rural route to Junction City; there is good prospects that we may have it. Messrs. Green, Currington, Baldwin and Boswell attended the oyster supper at Geneva Thursday night. Mrs. Cliff Gill and children spent the week-end at Butler as the guest of Mrs. Trussell. Mr. Edmund Perry went to Tazewell Saturday. There will be an oyster supper and Valentine drawing at the Jackson House Friday night, for the benefit of the Baptist church. Everybody is invited to attend. Mrs. J.K. Morgan is slowly mending to the delight of her many friends. Dr. C.C. Carson went down to Columbus Monday. The new depot has been started and we hope it will soon be completed. Mr. Davis is relieving the section foreman, Mr. Goggans for two weeks. Mr. C.W. Moore went to Talbotton Friday. Messrs. Moore and Layfield have just completed their blacksmith shop and will be glad to have their friends call and give them a trial. The Butler Herald Tuesday, February 25, 1913 Junction City Items Rev. B.F. Elliott filled his regular appointment here Sunday. Mr. Murray of Plains is visiting his daughter, Mrs. W.T. Mackey. Mesadame S.V. Hart, Robert Blythe visited Mrs. Ed Layfield at Columbus last week. Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Goggan’s are visiting relatives at Union Springs, Ala. and other points. Mr. and Mrs. J.I. Parker passed through here Saturday afternoon enroute to Howard. Mr. George Peddicord, of Macon, spent the week-end here. Mr. C.W. Moore who is a hustler will soon have a furniture shop in Junction City. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brewer entertained one night last week. All reported a grand time. Mrs. Gussie Pound stopped over at the Jackson House Saturday afternoon. Mr. Hudson, of American, was here in his auto Friday afternoon. The Butler Herald Tuesday, May 6, 1913 Junction City Charlie Montgomery, of Norwich spent the week-end here. Mr. Watson and wife of Mauk, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Watson Saturday. Dr. C.C. Carson went to Atlanta last week. Mrs. Tom Montgomery returned from Columbus Saturday. Several from here attended the barbecue at Talbotton Saturday; all report a grand time. Mr. S.F. Hart was the week-end visitor to Box Springs relatives. Mr. J.K. Morgan is quite sick at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Layfield entertained a few friends Saturday afternoon. (Last Week’s Letter) Mrs. G.J. Graham, of Talbotton, was here one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Spinks, of near Daviston, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.K. Morgan. Miss Maude Brewer returned to her home near Butler Saturday afternoon. J.C. Baldwin attended the play at Collinsworth Friday night. Mr. Robertson, a traveling salesman for the Junction City Manufacturing Co., spent the week-end here. Miss Averline Fowler has returned home after several weeks visit to relatives at Poplar. Mrs. Anderson entertained in honor of Misses Barnes and Martin Friday afternoon. They report a pleasant occasion. Miss Nettie Morgan was quite sick several days last week. The Butler Herald Tuesday, August 5, 1913 Junction City Mr. John Will Boswell, of Ideal, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boswell. The series of meetings closed at the Baptist church Thursday A.M. Never before have we experienced such a meeting and had a fine preacher to assist Brother Taylor. Mr. C.B. Barnes and family of Ellaville, spent the week- end with his sister, Mrs. C.S. Wood. Mr. S.F. Hart has purchased a Ford car and went down to Box Springs Sunday. Mrs. C.C. Carson left Saturday for Camp Hello, S.C., to spend a month as the guest of her mother, Mrs. McMillian. Messrs. J.E. Mathis, Clarence Heath, Miss Lucile Merritt and Mrs. Mathis spent Sunday at Warm Springs. Miss Aveline Fowler left Sunday to spend a few days with relatives at Prattsburg. The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 2, 1913 Junction City Rev. Bussey preached at the Baptist church Saturday night. Misses Patterson, of Box Springs are visiting relatives in the city. Mr. Willie Upshaw passed through here Wednesday enroute to Thomasville. Mr. W.A. Baldwin left for Atlanta Wednesday afternoon where he goes to attend the bedside of his brother, Mr. Lyn Baldwin. Miss Eva Jackson has returned to her home in Savannah. Mrs. Ollie Smith, of Griffin, is the guest at the Jackson house. Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Morgan spent the week-end at Reynolds. Mrs. J.R. Culpepper was carried to Columbus Friday to have four operations. She is doing nicely. Mrs. Gordon Parks continues to be right sick. Miss Nettie Morgan returned home Wednesday after several days visit to relatives at Woodland. Mrs. C.C. Carson and children have returned home after a visit to her parents in South Carolina. Several from here went up to Atlanta Tuesday. Miss Gill is the guest of her brother, Mr. Terrell Gill. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Layfield spent the week-end here. Mr. and Mrs. M. Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Mackey and Miss Annie Hesters were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hesters Saturday and Sunday. Luther Gray (col) while working on the Central Rail Road let a rail fall on him, he lived only a few hours. The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 16, 1913 Geneva Items Col. J.A. Smith was a pleasant visitor here Sunday. Miss Laura Ellis from Macon visited Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Tillman Saturday. Mr. J.E. Bartlett left Thursday for his home in Butler. Mr. Bartlett made many friends here who hate to see him leave. Mr. Randall Walker from Charing came Thursday and will take Mr. J.E. Bartlett’s place with Colquitt Brothers. Mr. Tommie Walker from Macon, spent the week-end with Mr. Hallie Fuller. Miss Mary Edge returned last week from Waverly Hall where she had been visiting for some time. Mr. C.F. Hayes spent a few days here this week with Mrs. Virginia Persons. Misses Mary and Marguerite Patterson entertained at tea Friday evening at their lovely home “The Oaks”. Those who enjoyed this evening in this always happy home were Misses Elizabeth Rankin, Ora Colquitt and Mr. Mercer Cook. After tea, they were driven over to Smithbury to an ice cream festival given for the benefit of the school there. Miss Rankin, Miss Colquitt, Miss Patterson, Mr. W.A. Patterson in a surry and Mr. Mercer Cook and Miss Marguerite Patterson in a buggy. All had a delightful time though it rained quite a good deal during the evening. Mr. A.L. Bradshaw from Buena Vista spent Saturday night with home folks. Dr. C.M. Black from Talbotton, was here Sunday. Mr. C.C. Fry went over to Talbotton Tuesday. Rev. Mathews from Atlanta, lectured here Sunday night to a large audience. Messrs. Perry Shipp and W.A. Patterson visited friends near Box Springs Sunday. Miss Marguerite Bussey from Jamestown came Thursday to visit Miss Gussie Leigh Cook. Miss Mary Patterson left Monday morning for Chipley, where she will be with relatives for a few weeks.
