The Atlanta Constitution     P 3 September 24, 1898
Talbotton, Ga., September 23.(Special) -In the case of the state vs. W. Scott 
Brown, for the killing of John Henry Miller in March last, J H Worrill, C J 
Thornton and J J Bull for defense and Solicitor S. Price Gilbert and A J Perryman 
for state, the jury rendered a verdict of murder, with a recommendation of mercy. 
The case was appealed.
