The Talbotton New Era Thursday, March 31, 1910 Page Two Baldwinville The Easter egg hunt at our school was a most enjoyable affair. About thirty guests came in response to an invitation from the children among them being Miss Carrie Murphey of Talbotton, who with delightful strains of music, held the children spellbound till the eggs, which were many and beautiful, were secreted in the beautiful grove surrounding the building. When the familiar tinkle of the school bell signaled “ready” the happy bevy of little folk, came bounding in the grove, like a multitude of bright winged butterflies hurrying hither and thither, stopping only long enough to admire the bit of new found sweetness; or compare it with others. The half hour following was filled with energy beyond compare. Each went away with their hearts and pockets well satisfield with what the occasion gave them. The onlookers could but hope that each of these little players who are to appear on life’s stage of action would display as much zeal in pursuance of some lofty ambition, as in this, it should end so triumphantly so beautifully for themselves and others. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, March 31, 1910 Page Seven An Easter Egg Hunt Mrs. Walter Allen gave an egg hunt on last Saturday evening at her home at Social Circle. Quite a crowd of children and many grown ups gathered at an early hour and after many games quite a number of eggs of various colors and stripes were hidden by Mrs. R.D. Gibson, Misses Bessie and Myrtie Allen, and Miss Lucie Mae Blanton. Then the cry all is ready and such romping and turning leaves and after many a tussel and scuffle all the eggs were found except one. Prizes were awarded to the one finding the largest and smallest numbers. First prize was awarded little Annette Gibson and Mildred Vaughn and Sallie E. Teal tied on second, but drew for and both got a prize. First prize was a gold egg and second was a silver egg and a baby painting. Then all left wishing Mrs. Allen to give many more such joyful egg hunts. V.
