Although the weather was cold and disagreeable many of the citizens of the town turned out to see the wonderful improvement. The citizens have been in the dark for well nigh a century but the city fathers of Talbotton have been determined that there should be light in the old town and we have light. While only the business square is lighted at present, the city fathers expect to have lights practically all over the town by the time Santa Claus comes. We have heard that many many years ago Talbotton voted bonds for electric lights but for some reason the validation of same was defective and nothing came of it. This is only hearsay with us because it happened before we were old enough to sit up and take notice. – Talbotton New Era File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/talbot/newspapers/electric2354nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
