The weather had been perfect, the entertainment delightful and the business has been dispatched without friction or unpleasantness. 63 Years in Conference The conference listened to a unique speech Friday from Dr. J.B. McGehee, D.D., who will superannuate at this session of the conference after sixty-three years of faithful service. Dr. McGehee is 82 years of age and joined the conference sixty-three years ago. His second would be hard to duplicate anywhere as an itinerant preacher. Men have preached, or had license to preach that long, but very few of any, have been active pastors for over three score years. During the present year Dr. McGehee has served the Buena Vista church. Despite his 82 years of age and sixty-three years of service he preached twice each Sunday, conducted his Wednesday evening prayer meetings, did pastoral work and brought up the collections ordered by the annual conference. In his remarks to the conference Dr. McGehee said he had preached no old sermons, but had made new ones for his people.
