Talbot Man Honored

News has reached Talbotton that Attorney Frank Matthews, a brother of E.R. 
Matthews of Talbotton and J.B. Matthews of Prattsburg has been honored by the 
governor of Oklahoma.

The following clipping from his home paper at Altus, Oklahoma will give the 
information.

“Hon. J. Frank Matthews of this city, received a telegram this morning to the 
effect that he has been appointed a member of the state board of affairs by 
Gov. Lee Gruce and congratulatory messages have been pouring in on him ever 
since.  The board of affairs is a sort of general purchasing and financial 
agent of the state, pays $3000 a year and is one of the best appointive 
offices.  Mr. Matthews will probably be selected chairman.”

Mr. Matthews was reared at Prattsburg.  His friends there and all over Talbot 
County will be interested in this honor which has come to him in the Great 
West.

Poplar and Prattsburg

The many friends of J. Frank Matthews, familiary known as Pony, will be glad 
to know he has been recently appointed by the Gov. of Oklahoma to the 
Judgeship with lucrative salary.

He was reared at Prattsburg, graduating from two colleges; after reaching 
maturity; casting his lot west, soon reached great popularity, which opened 
the way that gave him many prominent political positions.
