The Atlanta Constitution 
The Atlanta Constitution  September 14, 1885

At McCrary's mill, in Talbot county, will be found a wild goose, which was 
captured by breaking its wing, in the spring of 1871.  Its wing was amputated, 
and it was turned loose in a large pasture, where it remained for five months; 
being recaptured, it was brought back and confined with other geese, where it 
yet remains , and bids fair to see many winters that may come to pass.
