McGehee At the recent District Conference at Broxton the following resolutions on Dr. J.B. McGehee were unanimously passed. Whereas, This is the fifty-sixth years of Dr. J.B. McGehee’s official life, is probably his last year as an effective Methodist preacher, and as our beloved presiding elder. Whereas, The character of Dr. McGehee has been unsullied, and his life an eminently useful one, having served our church so wisely and efficiently in almost every capacity open to a Methodist preacher – Presiding Elder, College President, College Trustee, Trustee of the Wesleyan Christian Advocate, Delegate to our General Conference and contributor to our periodicals. Resolved, By the Waycross District Conference in regular conference assembled. First, That we feel profoundly thankful to God for the gift of this His distinguished servant to our church, and we desire to express our highest appreciation of his brotherly love and Christian courtesy, his wise counsels and safe leadership as our presiding Elder. We recommend the exemplary life of Dr. McGehee to our young preachers as worthy of emulation. Second, That inasmuch as Dr. McGehee has expressed his purpose to ask the next Annual Conference to release him of active work; we deeply deplore his loss to our conference, and regret that as the presiding officer of our district such action will necessitate a severance of our present relations. Third, That we will ever remember Brother McGehee and his devoted faithful wife in our prayers, and that Brother J.P. Wardlaw be asked to offer special prayer at this time that God’s choicest blessings may ever be upon them. Robert Kerr B.S. Sentell J.P.
