Carreker has been awarded a beautiful silver medal in token of the high esteem in which he is held by the Home Insurance Co., with whom he has been continuously employed for twenty-five years. This was a reward for merit. The genial Captain’s host of friends wish for him many years of usefulness and prosperity. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, April 22, 1909 Page Eight N.P. Carreker Still On The Run On the 23rd of December, I applied the brakes at the 78th milestone, exchanged greetings with my friends, and off again for the 79th run. Still leading my old friends Capt. Persons and Raines, who have been after me for more than 70 years. Speed up your machine boys and come along. I’ll be stopping on the way, writing and renewing polices, making bonds, loaning money and paying losses. Thanking the public for past favors, I will answer your calls at 7 or 64 and serve you with my usual promptness. Gratefully, N.P. Carreker The Talbotton New Era Thursday, October 14, 1909 Page Two Captain Carreker’s New Quarters Just under the stairway, on the left as you enter the Court House you will find Capt. N.P. Carreker cozily ensconced in a new office with the odor of newness all about him. The brightness of a glorious October sunshine lighting up the snowy walls with a golden radiance. Everything is “spick and span and new.” The genial Captains’ motto has ever been “Order is Heaven’s first law.” To those seeking business can rejoice that they can combine pleasure as well, for the welcome within, is rivaled from without by one of the most beautiful views Talbotton affords, that is, the picturesque charm of the lovely Bardwell home as seen from the south window.
