Some Sisters, but few Mothers. And to us, perhaps only one mother. She is Mrs. Eliza Callier. It was a chivalrous sentiment that prompted Mr. Robert Mizell on Memorial Day, to gather a posy of Spring’s rarest roses, bind them with satin streamers, and carry them to this noble mother of the Confederacy. The presentation was full of appreciation, and fraught with emotion. And if words could have found expression in this holy scene they would have said in part: “Your patriotic achievements are sacred in the hearts of all who know you. Through all the years of your long life, how sublime your influence, your patience, your sufferings and your example. We bring to you this floral offering in token of our unfading admiration and tenderness. The more than four score and ten years have been blessings, everyone, and they are glassed in the mind of Him who crowns every virtue and rewards every sacrifice.” This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
