Up to this time the office has been paying eleven hundred dollars. Mr. DeLoache has worked hard to bring the office at Talbotton up to the present standard. When he went in the office some years ago, it was in the fourth class and did not pay over nine hundred dollars per anum. He has worked faithfully and the office is now in third class. He well deserves the increased pay as it was through his efforts that the increase came. He has now five rural routes going out from this office and all are doing well. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, December 10, 1908 Page One It Is Postmaster DeLoache The patrons of the Talbotton Post Office will be glad to learn that the Post Office Department failed to accept the resignation of Postmaster DeLoache, and that he will continue to serve as the Postmaster of Talbotton. Some thirty days ago, Postmaster DeLoache sent in his resignation to take effect within thirty days. He accepted a position with a Columbus firm and expected to give up the office, which he had filled with such marked ability for more than twelve years. The department was slow to accept the resignation and finally Postmaster DeLoache reconsidered and decided to continue in the office here. Talbotton has never had a better or more faithful official in this important position. He has worked hard for the building up of the business and indirectly for the upbuilding of Talbotton. No office in Georgia is conducted with more satisfaction to the patrons and the people of the Talbotton and Talbot County are glad that he will continue to handle the mail of “Uncle Sam” at this place.
