Rev. Harry B. Bardwell, son of Dr. and Mrs. E.L. Bardwell, of this place, has offered himself as a missionary in the foreign field and has been accepted. He has been stationed for the last three years at Centennary Church, Macon, where his work has been very fruitful. He goes to Guantanamo, Cuba, a splendid foreign field, and we feel that the South Georgia Conference could not have selected a better man for that place. His removal to a foreign field has come as a surprise to many of his acquaintances and friends, but Mr. Bardwell says that he feels that the people there should hear the gospel and the text John 3:16 drives him there. The text says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son etc.”. Mr. Bardwell observes that the word “world” includes more than Georgia, or the United States or Europe or Asia, but none however small of insignificant are left out of God’s love and they ought to know it. “My sacrifice” says the noble young preacher, “if it can be called a sacrifice, is not to be compared to the sacrifice God made in giving His only begotten son and Christ the son who came and died. If God did that much for me how small it is that I can do for Him by spending my life telling the heathen about Him!” Having a son in the field at the front Talbotton people will be more in touch with foreign missions that ever and the son’s noble example will do good at home as well as in the foreign field. He will be in Talbotton several days before leaving. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
