The Atlanta Constitution P 6 September 23, 1898
Talbotton, Ga., September 22 (Special) Argument in the case of Mr. W Scott Brown, 
for the killing of John Henry Miller on the 1st of March, was continued this 
morning, speeches being made by C J Thornton for the defense, and by Solicitor S P 
Gilbert for the state.  The case was given to the jury at 11 o'clock and at 4:30 pm

returned a verdict of guilty of murder, with a recommendation of mercy to the 
court.  The judge sentenced Brown to life imprisonment in the penitentiary.  Court 
adjourned this evening.
