At the residence of her father, in Talbot county, Ga., Miss Amanda V. second 
daughter of Maj. Alfred H. and Mrs. Aney Brown, in the 18th year of her age.  
Her disease was of a complicated nature.  Her sufferings were great in the 
extreme.  From infancy she had been blessed with a constitution strong and 
vigorous, and long and stoutly she weathered the storm that wrecked her little 
bark, just as she had commenced the voyage of life. Early in the commencement of 
her disease, medical aid was procured, and long and fondly it was hoped that her 
disease would yield to the power of medicine, and that she would soon recover.  
But the hand of the physician failed.  She suffered long and severely; but 
endured all with great fortitude and resignation.  Nature at length became 
exhausted, and she calmly breathed out her last on the evening of the 10th inst.  
The writer of this notice stood by her bed-side and witnessed the closing scene. 

By him, and by many who were there, it will never be forgotten.  Like the 
declining Sun on a calm Summer's evening, without a struggle or a groan, she 
sank into the arms of Death.  Though called to mourn, we rejoice that it is not 
without hope.  We trust that our loss is her eternal gain.  Till the morn of the 
resurrection, then, we bid her adieu.  Her troubles are over and she is at rest.  
Peace to her grave. Parents, 

O weep not o'er they daughter's tomb,
Her spirit is not there;
But far above the skies, her home,
Beyond all pain and care.
