Bussey was born in Upson Co. March 15th, 1844 died as she had lived calmly, peacefully at her home near Talbotton May 10, 1910. Mrs. Bussey had been practically an invalid for a number of years but the call came quite suddenly she grew unexpectedly worse in three or four days before her spirit winged its way to that Home of the Soul. All that a devoted family could do was willingly, cheerfully done but God had called and she had listened. The loyal unselfish wife and Martha has left an aching void in your hearts, another vacant chair at your fireside but burdened heart, be brave to bear thy cross while the crown is there. Thy hand within the Fathers lay until he wipes all tears away. She was a noble housekeeper and the fact that she was of late years physically debarred from taking part in any active work, a severe trial to a woman of her energetic temperment, yet she never complained that her cross was too hard, was ever cheerful and ready to aid with her good counsel, yes wise and good coming from a heart mellowed by years of experience and full of charity for frail humanity. She was one truthful of women and there is nothing more kingly than kindness, more royal than truth. Mrs. Bussey was a resident of Talbot for more than fifty years having moved her with her parents Nathaniel and Mary Collier when a young girl of seventeen. She was married to Reuben Bussey Dec. 17, 1867 who with three daughters, three sons and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn her death. In a casket laden with the flowers she loved so well attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends she was laid to rest at Sardis cemetery. Rev. Heath of Woodland conducted the funeral services. To the bereaved family we extend our heartfelt sympathy and earnestly reverently point you to him who can comfort you even in this your Gethesmane. Then how sweet it would be in that beautiful land so true and free from sorrow and pain with song on our lips and with harps in our hands. To meet one another again.
