Blackston, 87, were held Thursday at 11 a.m., in the Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston with the Rev. Foy Perkins officiating. Internment followed in Pine Level Cemetery near Mauk. A native of Marion County, he had made his home in Taylor County prior to moving to Thomaston several years ago. Mr. Blackston died at 3 p.m., Tuesday, on Fort Valley after a long illness. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ray Blount of Thomaston; four sons, Albert Blackston, Marshallville, Felton and John Blackston, Jr., of Thomaston; Gordon L. Blackston, Reynolds; two sisters, Mrs. R.T. Pike of Warm Springs and Mrs. Della Hayes of Manchester; two brothers, M.J. and Tom Blackston of Columbus; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
