Smith and mother of T.J. Dewberry of Macon were brought to Talbotton for interment Saturday. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, June 16, 1910 Page One Mrs. Frances E. Dewberry The annals of this quiet life might be comprised in a few simple statements; born December the 15th 1843; united in early with the Methodist church at old Matthews Chapel; married in 1860 to Thomas J. Dewberry; died in Macon, Georgia at the home of her son, Dr. T.S. Dewberry, on Friday, June the 3rd, 1910 and was buried on June the 4th at Matthews Chapel, by the side of her husband who was one of the first Volunteers to leave Talbot County in 1860, immulated his life on the altar of his country at Seven Pines in Virginia and whose body was brought home by his devoted young wife. But those who were privileged to know her do not rest in mere historical data they think of one whose face was a benediction illumined with the hues of the glory the wonders of whose soul were opened toward Jerusalem, they think of a true mother in Israel who reared her holy child in the faith once committed to the saints herself an example of the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ they think of one who loved the crosses of life without murmuring. As a light affliction which is but for a moment working out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. She was a woman of large heart and broad views. Reared member of the Methodist fold she was a loyal member of this communion and valued its type of Christian Life. Her last days were peacefully spent as they were under the tender care of her affectionate son attended with the finest medical skill and every possible comfort there was just a quiet waiting for the summons the Master is come and is waiting for thee. From her quiet chamber window her eyes often rested up on one of the fairest landscapes of Georgia they are now looking up on lofty hills of purple frankincense and moutains of myrrh and they see the King in His glory the chiefest among ten thousands and altogether lovely. Soon we shall meet again – meet never to sever; soon will peace wreathe her chain round us forever, there joys celestial thrill where bliss each heart shall fill and fears of parting chill never no never.
