Mr. H.C. Downs Succumbs To Death

The many friends of Mr. H.C. Downs Sr. were saddened to learn of his death on 
last Friday.

Mr. Downs has been an invalid for about twenty-five years and for the last 
three years he has been blind and almost helpless.

At the time of his death he was living with his son, Mr. D.A. Downs.

He was the father of our two well known fellow townsmen Messrs. D.A. and H.C. 
Downs, Jr. and Miss Nettie Downs.  Besides these he had three other children, 
Mrs. Daniel of Upson county, Mrs. Morgan of Paschal, and Mrs. Butler of 
Talbotton.

Mr. Downs had been a member of the Baptist church for a long number of years, 
and died in that faith.

The funeral took place on Saturday past. 

The New Era extends its sympathy to all his sorrowing friends.
