She was the only child of Mary Ann Jordan, a slave, who had committed to her care the children of her deceased mistress, and so faithfully discharged her trust that she was ever gratefully remembered by her charge and fully respected by her acquaintances. The daughter was a worthy representative of such a mother and was faithful to her every duty, loyal to her every obligation, and a consistent member of her church in which she had membership for more than 20 years. For a long while she suffered from disease, which defied the skill of physicians, resisted the ministrations of friends, and her Christian fortitude was her chief reliance. Carry Lee Leonard, the wife of Enos Leonard, is her only child. She was laid to rest in Geneva, her old home and heartaches and tears were in plenty around her grave. A Friend
