Obituary of Billy Hall

                                              Death of two old citizens

On Wednesday of last week, at his home in this county, Mr. William Hall, 
or "Uncle Billy" as he was familiarly called, passed from life at the age of 
more than 80 years.  He too, was a remarkable man, and was one of the oldest 
citizens of the county.  He was a man of powerful physique and constitution and 
up to the time of his death was a very active and vigorous man.  He was a noted 
litigant in our courts and for many years of latter life his cases attracted 
attention at our bar.  Prior to the War he was reported to be worth about 
$100,000, but he died a poor man, his large property having dwindled away.  One 
of Uncle Billy's nobler traits in his latter days was the love and care he 
bestowed upon a little granddaughter, the child of one of his daughters.  By 
his death the child loses her best friend and his heart was bound up in her.  
He leaves two sons and several other children and grandchildren who all live in 
distant parts of the county.
